Meet Douglas G. Miller, M.D.
A native of the Bay Area, Dr. Miller attended the University of California
at Berkeley where he received his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering.
Dr. Miller received his Medical degree from the University of California
at San Diego in 1983. He then completed the following post-graduate training:
|
Internship
Boston University, Framingham Union Hospital, Massachusetts
Residency
Ophthalmology Residency at Ochsner Clinic, New Orleans
Fellowship
Cornea Fellowship at Tulane University, New Orleans
|
Upon his return to California, Dr. Miller established himself at Kaiser
Permanente in Anaheim as the region's Cornea expert. In 1991, Dr. Miller
left Kaiser to assume the private practice of Dr. Cody Smith, a retiring
physician who had established the first ophthalmology practice in San Diego's
East County, in a facility today known as The Eye Center.
Dr. Miller is an experienced refractive surgeon, researcher, published
author, noted speaker, and an established expert in his field. In addition,
he regularly contributes his time and skills performing charity work for
indigent children within the San Diego Unified Public School district and
for the local Lion's Club.
Like Dr. Smith, who founded The Eye Center 38 years ago, Dr. Miller is committed
to patient satisfaction and quality care. He does not participate in capitated
managed care, preferring to offer patients the benefits of the old-fashioned
doctor-patient relationship, even as he offers them the latest in laser
technology. It is this conservative approach to all aspects of his practice,
including Laser Vision Correction, that enables Dr. Miller's patients to
achieve excellent results and a high level of satisfaction.
Dr. Miller is proud to offer Laser Vision Correction to qualified
candidates, with the assurance that all patients will receive the most reasonable
and safest treatment possible. When Dr. Miller's wife elected to have Laser
Vision Correction in early 1998, Dr. Miller was faced with the decision
of finding the best surgeon in town to perform the surgery. Dr. Miller performed
the procedure himself and today his wife sees 20/15 (better than 20/20)
in each eye without glasses. At The Eye Center, all patients
are treated like family.
A Message from Dr. Miller
"I want you to feel comfortable with your decision to have Laser Vision
Correction. You should understand all your options and have all your questions
answered. At The Eye Center, you will receive personal follow-up care from me -
not a technician. And, once your vision has stabilized, the remainder of your
post-operative care may be performed by your own, trusted Optometrist, if you
so desire.
Although I perform Laser Vision Correction routinely, I am also a fellowship
trained cornea subspecialist and a comprehensive ophthalmologist. That means I
can handle the tough cases other ophthalmologists refer to me. Don't get caught
up in the hype at some refractive surgery mill. Many of my patients are
physicians, not celebrities. Remember, McDonalds may make the most hamburgers,
but they don't necessarily make the best hamburgers. My staff and I are
committed to achieving the best possible results for all patients who are good
candidates for Laser Vision Correction."
